Women have used natural plants for female symptoms for thousands of years. We have observed our
customers using natural products for about twelve years, and these are some of our favorites.
FOR ESTROGEN BALANCE IN PMS AND MENOPAUSE
Black Cohosh is the most popular and most studied herb, with a76 to 93% success rate for major symptoms from
hot flashes , mood, sleep and heart palpitations, to even vertigo, joints, blood pressure, and fever.
Dong Quai is called women’s ginseng, and is often used to balance black cohosh and assist in hot flash
help, PMS, vaginal dryness, insomnia, hypoglycemia, liver, headaches, and a lubricant laxative.
It is also very important for circulation, anemia, and stress.
Wild Yam can also be used to counteract estrogen dominance and is commonly used as natural birth control .
It is used often to support adrenal glands, which take over some of the hormone issues as ovaries become dormant.
Vitex or Chasteberry can help with regulating pituitary hormones, which in turn can help with hot flashes,
PMS, regulating menstrual cycle, and fertility. Can help with excess bleeding.,
Red Clover has been used as an alternative to black cohosh, as herbalists use both to have an estrogen like
effect.
Other herbs that appear to have phytoestrogen or plant estrogenic compounds are fennel, and licorice.
Licorice can raise blood pressure in high doses, but is valuable for digestion, inflammation, and adrenal
support.
Other herbs used for PMS and menopause include Maca, Schizandra, Bee Pollen, Royal Jelly, and Kudzu
Cordyceps, Astragalus
Also helpful and sometimes essential: Evening Primrose, Calcium and Magnesium, E, B vites, and Vitamin C
C-X, Flash Ease, Estronorm,
NERVES
Nerves can be totally frazzled when hormones are. B. Cohosh, Dong Quai, St. John,s, Nerve Control, Royal Jelly,
Theanine, Calcium and Magnesium can be of great help. Also B and C
ADRENAL
Adrenal support can be crucial for PMS, PCO, and especially menopause. As adrenals produce DHEA, the body
is more dependent on adrenals for progesterone and estrogen precursors. If adrenals and thyroid are weak or stressed, the
metabolism is stressed, fat is stored, and excess fat produces estrogen. Testosterone deficiency can occur, which results
in low energy, sex drive, weight and strength problems,
INFLAMMATION
Inflammation usually makes all female hormone stages worse. Causes of inflammation include sugar, caffeine,
chocolate, high arginine foods (peanuts, corn, chocolate) fried foods, salt, carbonation, MSG, trans fats, acid producing
foods. Also lack of sleep, chemicals, flourescent lights, and other stimulants can be inflammatory. Helpful herbs and supplements
include DIM, Borage, Evening Primrose, Grape Seed, Ginger, and Enzymes such as Bromelain. Also, aromatherapy oils can be great::
sage, lavender,
rosemary, juniper, chamomile. jasmine ,neroli, myrrh, are great!
LIVER
All female hormones are affected by how clean or congested the liver is. Snappy mood, headaches and sluggish
bowels can indicate this. Chinese liver cleanses can REALLY help: Tiao He, bupleurum, milk thistle, NAC, garlic, dandelion,
and fiber are good. Newton’s Detoxifier, lemon , digestive enzymes, Gallbladder cleanse are also recommended, as well
as green foods such as spiraling, wheat grass, and barley grass.
